I can’t rave enough about the Sensuous Soak Kit I received from Babeland.

The minute it was offered for review I knew I’d use this more for Taylor than myself.  Giving him baths is one of my favorite services and, while we already have one of the Body Spa Vibrating Sponges that is included in the kit, it was getting a little worse for wear due to all Taylor’s “man dirt” and I was glad to get another.

Along with the sponge, this kit comes with a waterproof book of erotica, a JimmyJane Afterglow massage candle in cucumber water and a bottle of Babeland Bubble Bath.  All of this is gift wrapped in a pink Babeland gift bag with pink tissue paper.

The vibrating sponge is a large, man made sponge shaped like a rounded triangle (or angled egg?) with a small, one speed bullet vibrator that tucks inside.  The bullet runs on 3 watch type batteries and is sealed with an o-ring to make it waterproof. (Water does, however, get inside it when you fully submerge the sponge.  I ruined my first one by not checking so I recommend opening the bullet, taking the batteries out and leaving it open until it’s dry for a longer life)  It’s a fairly strong little bullet with enough oomph that it’s vibrations are felt easily thru the sponge as a relaxing buzz.

The bubble bath is a Babeland product that comes in three scents – ours happened to be Afternoon Delight.  It’s light, very clean smelling, slightly floral, slightly green, very unisex.  I was worried it would be too “girly” but it reminds me of things that are usually described as water scents.  Definitely not too girly and just a little bit made a tub just full of bubbles.  I also used some on the sponge to scrub Taylor down and it lathered up well and rinsed away easily.  It’s a full eight ounce bottle so you get plenty of it!

The Aqua Erotica book is truly waterproof!  I expected the pages to be thick and bulky but they’re not.  They’re relatively thin and easy to turn – though the text is small, for those of you who may need reading glasses.  It contains eighteen stories and they seem to be a good mix of subject matter.

The very best part about this kit, however, has to be the massage candle.  I’ve read a lot of mixed reviews about massage candles in general so I wasn’t sure what to expect.

This one rocks.  I’m in love, addicted and defnitely getting more of them.

The kit comes with a cucumber water scented candle which is a nice, unisex scent that isn’t too overwhelming.  The candle itself is in a square, frosted glass holder and comes in a kind of starkly modern box along with a very convenient box of black matches and a two inch brush to apply the melted wax.

The candle is sealed and when you first pull the seal away the scent is quite strong.  Even not lit I can smell it while I lay in bed (it’s on my bedside table) but it’s not overwhelming.  Lit, it smells like a good, quality candle – heavily scented enough to fill the room with deliciousness but not headache inducing – and burns cleanly into a nice pool of wax.  It takes about a half hour to an hour to build up enough melted was for a full body massage (just enough time to have a luxurious bath!).  Once the wax has pooled to your satisfaction you simply blow out the candle, dip in the soft, perfectly sized and easy to hold brush, and lightly brush it on your partner.

The wax melts into an oil that coats the skin and allows the hands to glide and slip like a good massage oil.  It feels just a tiny bit waxy, a tiny bit thicker than regular oil, but it smooths on and is fully absorbed by the skin after about a half hour.  The feel of the warm wax being brushed on by the soft, good quality bristles of the brush is amazing; sensual, erotic, and you can use as much pressure as you like, from a tickling tease of the ends of the bristles to a full swoop with the whole brush.  The pool of wax in the candle also stays liquid for a good, long while, giving you plenty of time to enjoy yourself.

The scent, on the skin, is much lighter than it is when you smell the candle cold or even burning.  It’s neither feminine nor masculine and it’s never over powering, even up close and personal.  It lingers on the skin for a few hours then fades away to a clean smell and a soft but non-greasy or waxy feel.  It does have a slightly perfumey taste if you kiss and lick the skin you’ve been rubbing but it’s not horrible and didn’t prevent me from continuing to kiss, nor did it leave a waxy feel in my mouth.

All in all, this is one of the best products I’ve been able to review yet.

There is nothing quite like bathing and massaging your partner with good, quality products that smell wonderful and work perfectly.

After a long bath with scrub down and a full body massage (as well as a bit of massage for me) we probably used a half ounce to an ounce of the bubble bath, less than a quarter of the candle (which has a burn time of up to 42 hours) and the bullet is still going strong.

The Sensuous Soak Kit is definitely worth the $61 cost – especially since the candle itself sells for $25.  Buying these products as a kit saves you 15% off what they’d cost if you purchased them from Babeland separately.  So go.  Check it out.  Or pick up a different erotic kit or sex toy.  The choices are astounding.

As a side note, for those who worry, the Afterglow candle does contain phthalate according to the ingredient list.
