Ok.  Here’s the deal.  I’m not really all that fond of bullet vibes.  Not the corded kind, not the tiny, push button, cordless kind.  There have been a few I’ve tried that were really good, but really good bullet vibes are, to me, the exception rather than the rule.

Particularly on my shit list are the watch battery type bullets.  First, they’re hard and small and buzzy and the batteries generally last all of 15 minutes.  Second, they’re hard and small and buzzy and the batteries generally last all of 15 minutes.  Did I mention they’re small?  Too pinpoint for me with no real surface area.  And hard?  Ow.  Hard is not a friendly feeling for my clit.  And buzzy?  Meh.  Not a fan of high pitched, buzzy vibrations.

I like deep vibrations and plush material that gives a bit when I apply pressure.  I absolutely love the feeling of vibrations traveling thru dense, plush silicone.

And so when I saw the Fly Micro Vibe by Fun Factory, makers of most of my favorite toys, I kind of couldn’t resist it.  When Eden Fantasys had a 30% off Fun Factory toys sale a few weeks ago, I gave up trying and bought one – even thought it’s basically a watch battery bullet in a silicone sleeve.

I wasn’t absolutely positive I”d like it but, hey, I’ve tried iffier stuff, right?  And the Fly is amazingly cute; a vivid, carribean kind of blue with raised butterflies embossed on it’s silicone tip, adding not only to the aesthetics of the toy but some sensual, subtle texture.

Turns out I do like the Fly quite a bit.  I don’t love it, it’s not going to replace my favorite sex toys, but it’s a nice little vibe and works really, really well for times you need to be discreet (read quiet) or for extra stimulation during partner sex (read it doesn’t get in the way in most positions.)

The blue silicone sleeve that covers the Fly (it also comes in a vivid pink) is seriously gorgeous.  It’s typical Fun Factory silicone; matte, squishy, plush.  I really love matte silicone because it gives a little bit of extra friction in use, which for me provides more sensation.  I love plush, squishy silicone because it transmits vibrations in just the way I like, kind of absorbing them and delivering them as deeper, throbbier sensations than harder toys do.

Now, I’m not going to lie.  This is still, basically, a watch battery bullet so the vibrations are buzzy, particularly at the base of the toy where the bullet tucks in and where your fingers hold it.  This is a wee bit aggravating to me as buzzy vibrations translate as itch to my skin.  Fortunately, as the vibrations travel thru the silicone and into the tip of the silicone sleeve, they get a bit deeper, less buzzy.

The bullet itself is plastic with a velvet cote on it.  It has the typical push button control but, unlike most, it has three speeds.  One press for low, two for medium, three for high, four turns it off.  The battery cover twists off but is not threaded instead it has thick grooves that require you to put the cap on in just the right way or it won’t screw down.  I assume this helps make it more water tight.  There is also an o-ring outside the bullet, between it and the silicone sleeve, to help prevent water from going down into the sleeve.  So far, it has proven to be water resistant; I’ve not had any water enter either bullet or sleeve when I wash it nor when I took it in the shower.  I haven’t submerged it because I rarely masturbate in the bath tub and don’t have a pool but I’ve found that most bullets, even if they leak, come thru okay so long as you take the batteries out and let the inside dry before replacing them.

Overall, I’m impressed with the Fly Micro Vibe.  It’s silicone sleeve adds a nice plushness and friction against the skin as well as a bit of size, surface area, which makes the vibrations less pin point and more comfortable and stimulating for me.  It’s quiet, comfy and the batteries have lasted over an hour already.

I know, right????

The button does occasionally get pressed at the wrong moment when I use this during partner sex but it’s never happened during masturbation so I can’t complain overly much.

The Fly  measures 4.5 inches and is best used for clitoral stimulation.  You could insert it vaginally but it’s a little short to do more than stimulate the vaginal opening. Do NOT stick this up your ass; it will get sucked in.

Clean up with soap and water, paying special attention to the grooves created by the butterflies as gunk tends to accumulate there.  If you need to sanitize, you can boil the sleeve but not the bullet or use a mild bleach solution on the entire toy.

Avoid silicone lube as it can react with the silicone sleeve negatively!
