Dai-Do #1

March 27th, 2010 | by CarrieAnn

I have been looking at the Dai-Do Dildos for a year now, perhaps a bit longer. They appeal to me.  Red (or black) aluminum with a silicone grip and stainless steel bands that create gorgeous contrast.  Yum.  Just so pretty, you know?  And yet the initial reviews to come out on them were rather lackluster.  You just never hear about them, they don’t get the recognition of the Pure Wand or even the Tantus Alumina line, which itself is less talked about than it should be, as it’s excellent.  And so I kept putting off getting one in favor of other things…

Dumb!  The Dai-Do #1 I got is freaking fabulous.

Let’s start with the technical aspects, hmm?  The Dai-Do #1, as mentioned, is created from anodized aluminum.  It’s not light, though.  Not at all.  I think aluminum and I think soda can but that thinking is faulty.  This aluminum toy is hefty, heavy, substantial.  It weighs in at around a pound — about the same as the Fun Wand, a bit lighter than the Pure Wand — and you could definitely use it as a weapon should an intruder try to sneak into your bedroom.  (Bonus!  Getting knocked out cold by a dildo would be SO humiliating for the intruder!)

The Dai-Do #1 measures 7.25″ total length, around 4.5″ of that insertable, leaving you room to hold on to the toy as you thrust.  The ball end is large.  The ball end is very large.  It has a diameter of 1.9″ which is exquisitely girthy, particularly in a firm, unyielding metal toy.  The ball is substantially larger than that of the Pure Wand.  (You’ll notice me comparing it to the Pure Wand a lot since it’s the only toy that is really comparable at all)

The shaft of the Dai-Do #1 narrows after the ball, abruptly and immediately, to about 1.5 inches, maybe a smidge less.  It’s quite thick even on it’s own and can be used backwards, with the ball as a handle, if you don’t mind the texture of the silicone grip and little steel bands.  (Which is a lot less texture than that of many glass toys but may feel intrusive if you’re looking for just sleek metal)

The Dai-Do #1 is primarily intended to be used for that luscious ball, though.  It pops in and zeros in on the g-spot like a dream.  It almost can’t miss, primarily because it’s so large.  Even without a curve to the shaft the slightest angling has you rubbing and thrusting against that spot almost perfectly.

In many ways I actually prefer the Dai-do to the Pure Wand; it’s less awkward, easier to get clit stimulation at the same time as it’s less in the way and it’s…   bigger. What can I say?  I like ‘em that way. :)

The lack of insertable length in the shaft is barely noticeable to me since I’m not using this toy to bang my cervix but to hit my g-spot, which the 4.5 inch length hits just fine, leaving me plenty to thrust and rock with.

Like all aluminum toys, the Dai-Do #1 is great for temperature play.  You can easily warm or cool it by using running water or a bowl of iced or hot water, even stick it in the refrigerator.  While you can boil it to clean it, I wouldn’t suggest doing so for temperature play, however.  Metal that hot takes a long time to cool down and you’d almost certainly burn your tender tissues.  Same goes for the freezer — cold can be fun but frozen metal can hurt.  Use caution and common sense.

Clean up with soap and water, a toy wipe, by boiling, bleaching, dishwashing — pretty much however you like and as is appropriate for the way you use this toy. Sextoys that are shared between partners or orifices should be sanitized, solo use means you can use simpler cleaning procedures.

The Dai-Do #1 is not recommended for anal use since the flared part is the tip and, after getting almost two inches in your ass, it’s almost sure to gobble up the thinner shaft.  Try the #5 or #6 if you want an aluminum anal thrill that is also safe.

The Dai-Do does come with a satin drawstring bag and I suggest storing it in there to prevent it getting dinged up.  Anodized aluminum is very, very durable and it shouldn’t chip or show much wear, but it’s always a good idea to protect it, just in case.

Also, stick to water  based lubes with this, since the band on the shaft is silicone.  I’ve used silicone lube with no issue but I hate to recommend it and have y’all ruining your Dai-Dos.

A huge thank you to Eden Fantasys for letting me review this awesome dildo.  It may have taken me a long time to decide I really, really wanted it but now that I have it, I wouldn’t trade it.  It really is an amazing toy.

I couldn’t agree more! I love mine as well, though, I’ve used it for anal :) Trust me, it finds a p-spot too and the rubberized part acts like a brake barrier when it hits the sphincter. – You’ll have to kick it inside for it to disappear ;)

I have three from the Dai-Do range so far and they are all superb, and yes; they should get the same fanfare as the Njoy range…
Jesper´s last blog ..I know where you want to store it. – But seriusly; how many can you fit in there? My ComLuv Profile
