I’ll admit it. I have a thing for metal toys. They’re just so gorgeous. And firm. And sleek. And gorgeous.
The Dai-Do #5 is no exception. Crafted from anodized aluminum with a silicone band along the base, the #5 I got is a deeply bright red on the warmer side of the color spectrum. The contrast with the black silicone and silver accents is modern looking and sexy as hell.
The Dai-Do #5, while it can certainly be used vaginally, makes an excellent anal dildo. It measures in at 5.5″ long with a 3.5″ insertable area. Its diameter starts small, at around 1″ and gradually “bumps” up to 1.5″. The base is much wider than that, providing an excellent handle that fits in the palm of the hand, the silicone band giving you a decent grip that you wouldn’t get without it.
It weighs about a pound so it’s hefty and substantial in the hand but not so heavy as to be fatiguing.
The aluminum is completely slick and smooth, requiring very little lube – though you can use any type you wish – and very little in the way of clean up. Soap and water get it sparkling clean and, if you need, you can also boil or bleach the #5 for sanitization.
For me, used vaginally, it just wasn’t quite enough length or girth to the tip to stimulate my g-spot. This is a complaint I’ve seen in most reviews. However, with it’s wide base, it’s quite anal safe and it’s in anal play that the #5 truly shines. The bulges feel fabulous and are tapered to ensure a comfortable insertion for just about anyone. The rounded base means you can position it by rolling the base in the palm of your hand, tilting and tipping a bit to really hone in on the spots that feel best to you. It’s good for shallow thrusting, as well, the texture making it very stimulating yet not painful like nubs can be.
It does not make a great anal plug as the base is large and sitting upon it could, conceivably, cause your anus to stretch and accommodate it, but for thrusting, teasing play, it’s excellent. I really like it as a warm up to thrusting anal sex with my partner.
It’s also superb for temperature play. A bit of warm or cold water will heat or cool the toy to the temperature you like best and the aluminum will hold that temperature for a good while, gradually changing to match that of your body. Metal toys, oddly enough, often seem to feel even hotter than your body temperature, which is a very, very neat experience. I like to start out with it cool (but not cold – too cold or too hot and you can damage tender tissues) and marvel at the way it warms up and gets so sensually hot.
The #5, on top of being good for vaginal play and great for anal play, can also be used as a massager of sorts. Rolling it along the back, dipping the tip into sore muscles and rubbing and kneading a bit, can really keep your hands from getting overly sore during long massages.
I’m quite enthralled with the Dai-Do line and absolutely intend to collect as many of them as I can. They’re each so different and the ones I’ve tried are every bit as nice as my steel sex toys, often for a fraction of the cost.
