So here’s the deal; I’m not very fond of purple, or texture, or glossy silicone — all of which pretty much describe the Tantus Echo.  And yet I wanted it, have wanted it for awhile.  I kept telling myself no, that getting it would be stupid, that I didn’t need another dildo that I wouldn’t really like and that just because it looks a little like a swirl of ice cream doesn’t mean it would feel good.

And then I got it anyhow, sweetly asking the lovely folks over at Adam & Eve if I could try it.

The verdict?

It’s nice!

The Echo is, as mentioned, glossy plum colored silicone with a hint of a metallic shimmer and swirl to it.  It’s definitely not that burple purple you see in so many sex toys, that little girl shade of yuck that is so prevalent.  It’s a deep, grown up, midnight purple that is very visually appealing.  The swirls are also amazing; noticeable and fairly deeply ridged all the way down the shaft from the pronounced head — and yet the back side of the shaft is smooth and flat so the texture doesn’t overwhelm you and make your vagina feel invaded by an alien life form.

The silicone is slick with very little drag so a small amount of (water based!) lube easily does the trick.  It’s supple, firm yet bendable at the head — which allows for decent g-spot stimulation even though it doesn’t have much of a curve — and gets squishier as you move down the shaft to the hollow base.  (Hollowed out to fit the small, watch battery style bullet that comes with it, turning the entire shaft into a moderately buzzing vibrator)

The base is small, thin and flared, making it anal safe and perfect for harness use – no added bulk against your body since it’s so thin and soft.  The bullet, which is operated with a push button on it’s end cap, doesn’t work great in a harness — the button gets pushed against your pelvis and the vibrator turns on and off a lot — but you can always use a small corded bullet instead.

Turns out I really like the Echo a lot.  The texture feels good, more like little speed bumps than anything and the flat side means it’s not overwhelming.  I can feel each little swirl as I thrust and it’s especially stimulating at the entrance of the vagina, where there are so many never endings. It’s a nice size — 6.5 inches long and 1.5 inches wide — so it’s good for just about any level of user.  And because it’s silicone you can easily sanitize it with a mild bleach solution or by boiling for a few minutes if you want to share or use between multiple orifices, always a plus in a sex toy.

All in all?  It’s a win.
