Maybe I’m old and out of touch but I so often look at the world around me and just… blink. Because I’m immersed in it, due to my job, the world of sex blogging and sex toy reviewing boggles me the most. Can you spell entitlement? From complaints about what free toys a person is given to epic dramas about being kicked off a site, the sex toy world has gone mad.

So and so toy store sucks cuz they take too long to get back to me.

Yes, cuz you MUST have that toy right NOW and people aren’t busy, right?  Cuz god forbid something takes more than an hour or day.

Such and such place sucks cuz they only offer crappy toys for review.

Yes, yes, far better to bitch than to just… oh, I dunno, shut up and not request anything until something good comes along?  Cuz, with the economy struggling, they can TOTALLY afford to send you the best and most expensive toys every month, week, whatevs.

Whatstheirname didn’t take me on as a reviewer.

So what?  Who the hell are you anyhow that they have to take you? Maybe they don’t like your style, maybe they don’t like your stats, maybe they think you review for too many places to be valuable to them. Maybe they just don’t like YOU.  They don’t owe you anything. Shut up.

And finally, zomg, I got kicked off such and such site.

So fucking what?  I’ve been kicked off more forums than I can even count.  Banned, booted and blocked.  Who really gives a flying fuckaroo?

Christ.

It’s not even the individual things.  It’s the whole.  It’s the sense of being owed.

Wake the fuck up. No one owes you a fucking thing.  You get free toys in exchange for a review.  No one ever promised you’d get the cream of the crop and you should count yourselves lucky for the good shit you do get. It’s fucking FREE.  Want more and better shit?  Buy it.  You know, actually be a customer that spends money.

Be patient. Be nice. Be helpful. Make things easier on the people who are GIVING YOU FREE SHIT instead of being a greedy grubber. Don’t ask for three products every single week from a single store, cranking out the reviews as fast as you can to get more and more and more shit.  Especially if you’re going to complain about how crappy the offerings are!

As much as we’re an insular little community, these toy stores simply do not owe us anything.  We scratch each other’s backs but each of us is replaceable.

For these stores, all of them, it’s not about you. It’s about business.  You help their business.  If you stop being a help, if you’re more hindrance than help, if you’re a pain in the ass…

Why would they want you? Why should they feel obligated to you in any way? Why are any of us important, myself included?

In the grand scheme of things, we’re not. We’re just bloggers or reviewers who get free stuff in exchange for a review.

We have a decent community, we share and have fun and laugh and fight and compete and help people.  Why do we have to be greedy and snarky and cuntish half the time?  Why do we think the community would be more important to any of these stores than business?  If it were, they’d be a not for profit charity of some sort!  They’re not. Not EF, not Babeland, not Good Vibes, not Sextoy, not pink cherry or shevibe or adam and eve or fucking any of them.

Why do we get so full of ourselves we think we’re owed by these places?

If anything, we owe them.
