I just don’t get it
So I just ranted about this less than two months ago but I feel the need to revisit.
Insult. Injury. Offense.
Stop it already!
Is it because we are so connected to so many people over the internet? Because we converse with people we’d never meet at all in our daily lives? Because we read so much, from so many, exposing ourselves to ungodly amounts of opinion each day? Because we take it too personally because… oh my gods!… it’s in my feed reader!?
I have no idea what causes it but I’m sick to death of it.
People become insulted by something that was never intended to be insuting. By their perceptions of what they read instead of what was actually said.
It’s ridiculous.
Sure, it’s insulting if someone says “Carrie is a stupid, fat cunt.” But it is NOT insuting if someone says “What’s with some of these stupid, fat, cuntish submissives?” Cuz, yanno, they aren’t talking about me. Or you.
And if they are then you’re likely a stupid, fat, cuntish submissive and you have more to worry about than some miscellaneous webtart insulting you.
*sigh*
I”m not saying we never have the right to be insulted. But I am saying I’m tired of people taking shit so personally.
If I write something on my blog? And it’s my opinion? It’s probably not meant as an insult to you. I probably don’t even know you. I get three, four hundred people here a day. The likelihood that I”m talking about you is pretty slim. It’s not personal, man.
Same goes on anyone else’s blog. Or website. Or article. Or Twitter post. Or whatever.
And, the thing is… if the post or whatever IS about you or DOES describe you? Why get insulted by the truth, by facts?
Sure, there are the occasional forum posts or blog posts that are obviously targeted at someone in particular in a cagey sort of way. All couched in general rather than specific wording so as not to end up booted from the forum or part of a blog war.
But… honestly? Far more often it’s just uber sensitive people getting bent out of shape and taking things far too personally. Or unable to accept things about themselves.
And I just don’t get it.

Seriously though, I love that word. Webtart.
Nods, yep, but when it leads me to blog on the subject, then that is my right, as it was your right two months ago to blog about the same thing.
Am I offended? Nope. Did I maybe see some semblance to my blogs in the view mentioned about people hating the lifestyle their in: Yep. That’s why I blogged…not to out her, not to make her feel bad about her opinion at all, simply to make my point that though some might read I’m unhappy, I’m not, and maybe the others aren’t either.

Ayup. We all have the right to put it out there in our own blogs.
I’ve OFTEN blogged about the differences between live in and long distance BDSM. I’ve blogged about things I’m insulted about.
Hell, I just got done ranting about some twit who’s been in a relationship for 3 weeks telling me I’m doing it wrong.
What it comes down to is I’m an idiot for letting some twit get to me.
We all are.
I should add that you were obviously offended.
If not – you would’t have made it a point to belittle her relationship dynamic and invalidate her opinion because it’s not “as good” as yours.
I’ve never flown a plane but I can sure as shit give my opinion when the pilot is bitching about his shitty job.
Point is…
If you can give your opinion and do so in an insulting manner, so can she.
And if you’re going to blog about being unhappy and questioning your dynamic then you have to assume not everyone is going to understand that.
And not feel the need to insult them when they don’t get it.

grins – people kill me – and have either incredibly fragile egos or incredibly HUGE ones .. I haven’t quite figured that one out yet – if everything written out here in cyberia has obvious or subtle references to THEM.
