Lovemoiselle Ceramic Vibrators
I am addicted to ceramic sex toys. I’m okay with this addiction. Not only are they useful, but they look quite pretty and are at least as worthy of collecting as tea cups or state spoons, right? Right.
So this is my collection of Lovemoiselle ceramic vibrators: The Doriane, Juliane and Cecile. Such pretty, feminine names to go along with their pretty, feminine looks. I actually reviewed the Cecile a long time ago and knew, immediately, that I wanted the whole “set”. Now that I have it, I am not disappointed.
Ceramic, as a sex toy material, is pretty amazing. It’s firm, unyielding and both substantial and delicate in the hand. I’ve said it before but I’ll repeat myself for those who may not have read every review I’ve ever written — ceramic is much like glass in it’s slick, cool feel and the way it performs when you’re actually using it, giving firm g-spot stimulation and a nice, girthy sensation since it has no squish, and yet it feels different, too. Rather like a coffee cup held in one hand and a drinking glass in the other; similar, yet different enough to be quite noticeable at the same time.
Ceramic is a fantastic medium for temperature play, too. At room temperature, even in the heat of summer, it feels cool and refreshing to the touch. It heats slowly and evenly, retaining temperatures for a long time. This means if you start out with it cool or cold it’s stays that way for quite awhile, gradually warming to the temperature of your body. If you start out with it warmer than body temperature, it retains that heat for a good long while, too, and you get the sensation of it slowly cooling to body or room temperature.
You might not notice this at all if you’re looking for a quick wank session. In fact, if that’s what you’re looking for, the subtle sensations ceramic probably aren’t for you. Even the vibrators inside these toys are subtle and mild – insane, hard vibrations would not be very safe for a breakable ceramic toy. But if slow, sensual play is your style, you’ll probably love these.
Each of the ceramic Lovemoiselle vibrators are a creamy white in color with a single flower painted on to their shaft. They are kind of tulip shaped with a color coordinated plastic battery cap topping them off. The Juliane has a dusky pink flower and battery cap, the Doriane a country blue and the Cecile a lavender.
The Juliane is a g-spot vibrator. It has an extremely tilted head, crooked like a c’mere finger, to pinpoint and target the g-spot. The shaft is nearly 8″ long, 6 of those inches being insertable, with an impressive 1.5 inch diameter. Not a huge toy, by any means, but combined with the inflexibility of the material, it feels nicely filling and may even be too much for the beginner. It has a swirl along both sides of it, shaped like a fancy “S”, that adds a small amount of texture when inserted, keeping it from being too simple or boring but is not by any means extreme. In reality, you barely feel it when thrusting because the angled head will grab all your attention.
The shaft starts out at its narrowest diameter, with a very slight, rounded taper and slowly, gradually swells to its full diameter at the battery cap end. As mentioned, this end is like the open bloom of a tulip and the battery cap appears to just rest inside it. It actually screws off with the same sort of threads that the Laya Spot has - divets that light up exactly with raised areas on the cap so that there is only one way to put it on and it screws down tight with only a quarter turn of the cap.
Inside the ceramic you can see the plastic vibrator is inserted (it is not removable) and cushioned with a sort of gel/cauk type material between it and the ceramic that keeps water out and protects the ceramic itself from the vibrations. There is also an o-ring around the vibrator to prevent it from getting wet. I would not necessarily call this waterproof but it is certainly splash proof and can be easily cleaned or taken in the shower – just don’t submerge it and, if you do, be sure to remove battery cap and batteries and check for moisture, letting it air dry open if there is any.
The Doriane is the simplest of the three Lovemoiselle vibes. Like the others, it has a slightly, slowly tapered shaft. It also has a slight, asymetrical “s” swirl along the sides but it has no curve and no real variety to its shape. It is sleek and smooth and simple and makes for an excellent thrusting toy. You may not be able to hit your g-spot with it unless you’re super sensitive or can easily stimulate yours but it’s not designed with g-spotting in mind.
Primarily, it fills you up, gives you something to clench around, reacts wonderfully to temperatures and makes simple thrusting a simple pleasure. No high textures to distract, no bloops or curves or hooks, just a nice, straight shaft that slides in and out with ease.
Like the other two, it has a twist off battery cap, the o-ring, cushioning inside and a push button control. A single press starts all of the Lovemoiselle vibrators buzzing on low, subsequent presses turn it up and scroll you thru patterns. Pressing and holding the button for a few seconds from any level or pattern turns it off.
There are two steady levels of vibration – low and medium – as well as three patterns. The first pattern is a pulsing – da da da da da. The second a pulse with a short, steady vibe – da da da daaaaaaa. The third is a steady vibe, pulse, steady vibe combo – daaaaa da da da da daaaaaaa.
The Doriane also measures nearly 8 inches in length, with 6 inches being insertable, but has a very slightly slimmer 1 5/8 inch diameter. This is probably the best of the three for a beginner.
The Cecile is my favorite of the three. Like the Doriane, it is a mostly straight shaft – meaning it has no g-spot curve. It does, however, have bulges and only a single “s” swirl offset along one side of its shaft – in between the side and the front. The head is still taped, like the others, but a bit less so and has more of a ball type shape to it. From the head, it tapers in, then bulges out, then tapers in, then bulges out, then tapers slightly in and flares out to the tulip shaped base. It measures a full 8 inches in length, 6 insertable, with a 1.5 inch diameter.
I’m not a huge fan of texture but I am a fan of subtle bulges and the Cecile has these in spades. You don’t quite get a popping sensation from them but you do get a very slight opening and closing around it by the vaginal entrance, especially if you insert/thrust slowly. I love slow penetration and slow thrusting with the Cecile combined with manual clitoral stimulation. It gives me less of a distracting feeling than using it paired with a clit vibe and allows me to really revel in the sensations. This is actually true with all three. These are beautiful, subtle toys meant to be luxuriated in, savored, not wham bam thank you ma’am’d.
As mentioned, all three of these have mild to moderate vibrations. They are quiet in use, definitely won’t be heard thru a closed door unless you’re holding them against something else that is firm – for example, held against a piercing, they make a very rattle-y noise – but inserted, they are cushioned and silenced by your body. These are probably not strong enough to use as a clitoral vibrator by most but the vibrations add a bit of depth and intensity to internal use that makes them worth having, even if you already own other glass or ceramic pieces.
I tend to use them most often without the vibrations, as a simple dildo, but do enjoy the vibrations for a change of pace.
Ceramic can be easily cleaned. It is non porous so you can use soap and warm water for a quick clean up, a mild bleach solution or rubbing alcohol to sanitize it if you’re sharing or are a germaphobe type. Do not use these anally, as they have no flared base and could possibly be eaten by a hungry ass. Any lube you desire is okay and compatible but I’ve found silicone works really wonderfully. A very small drop of it provides all the slickness you could need and lasts a long time.
Do not boil these, as you could harm the motor. Do not stick them in the microwave. If you’re playing with temperatures, use warm or cold running water or water the temperature you prefer in a glass or bowl. You could even put these in the refrigerator but avoid the freezer. Extreme changes in temperature can cause ceramic to crack and also damage sensitive tissue. Feel free to warm them or cool them but do it sensibly and to temperatures that remain comfortable and safe for the body.
Do check for cracks before each use. They’re unlikely but better safe than sorry.
Store in the box they come in – which is a gorgeous, windowed, elegant, foam padded black cardboard – or in the included, velvety drawstring pouch.
