Mona

I am an admitted Lelo fanatic.  I don’t necessarily love each of their pleasure objects equally, they’re not even necessarily my favorite sex toys when you break it down to specifics, but they are, without a doubt, one of my favorite companies in general.  With Lelo, you can always count on a couple of things; quality, good packaging, consistency.  You can also always count on moderately strong vibrations, recharge-ability, velvety smooth silicone and a toy that not only works as it was designed to, but looks beautifully modern and abstract while it does it.

The Mona is no exception.

She comes in the always luxurious Lelo packaging – though she is a second generation Lelo product and, as such, the packaging has changed a bit.  I prefer the old, which make the box exceptionally useful as storage, but the new is nice, too.  Mona is nestled in a plastic and cardboard blister pack that allows vendors to display her nicely, situated in a heavy, black cardboard box.  The box also contains a satin drawstring pouch to store your Mona, a charger, a warranty pamphlet, an instruction manual and a quality guarantee booklet.

I got the red Mona, which is a cool, blue based red rather than orange based red with a white handle, though Eden Fantasys also offers her in a grape color.   The red is silicone and, like all Lelo silicone, it’s buttery smooth with a hint of matte drag overlaying firm, unyielding ABS plastic.  The handle/base is also ABS plastic, slick and shiny with a four button control panel.  The charging port is located at the bottom of the toy, covered with a silicone flap.  Charging is simple; one end of the cord goes into the Mona, the other into the wall.  She takes about two hours to charge and gives you about the same amount of play time used on the highest settings.  Using lower settings give you up to 4 hours play time.   Standby time is 4-6 weeks in my experience, though if she sits too long without use, you will know it by the lessening of power when you do go to use her.

Mona is designed to be a g-spot vibrator and she may be one of the most perfect I’ve found yet.  Her shaft curves and bulges in a way that makes it almost impossible to miss your g-spot as well as very intuitive to use.  With a straight toy, you need to thrust wildly while trying to tip and tilt the toy to the right position.  With Mona, you simply insert and thrust; the shape curves up, making it easy to hold in your hand, easy to thrust or rock without contorting yourself or the toy.

I will admit I got the Mona after getting the Ina, the similarly shaped Lelo toy with the clitoral nub for dual stimulation.  I love the Ina but often, when using it, want to be able to thrust and rock it more than I can with the firm clitoral attachment.  The shape is amazing and I just knew the Mona would be perfect for those times I don’t want clitoral stimulation along with my g-spot play.

And she is!

But it’s not just the shape that makes her so ideal.  It’s the vibrations.

Mona is controlled via four buttons in her shaft; a +, – and two arrow buttons.  Turn Mona on using the + button and she begins a low, yet deep, rumble.  Continued presses up the level — or you can simply press and hold for a smoother raise in vibrations.  Presses to — or continuous holding of — the – button reverse the intensity, until a final press turns the Mona off.   The arrow buttons control the complex and interesting vibrations patterns of the Mona.  A single press begins a slow throb, a second press increases the speed of the throb.  A third press begins an escalating pattern that seems to climb from a low hum to a throb, over and over again.  Four presses begin a roller coaster pattern that starts out low, peaks, then dips back down to low again.  The fifth press to the up arrow button starts a complex, freaky, weird, unexplainable pattern that is seemingly very random; it buzzes, it throbs, it peaks, it dips, it races then slows down, all feeling insanely wonderful when inside you.  This fifth pattern almost make the Mona feel like a living, squirming thing, even when held still.  All patterns can be controlled for intensity via the plus and minus button, giving you endless options to choose what feels best to you.

I’ve found, more than anything, the Mona works well for me because of the combo of shape and vibrations.  It’s firm, ungiving, hones in on my g-spot unerringly, is easy to thrust, requires very little arm motion from me to rock it perfectly inside me, is slender enough for easy insertion but shaped in a way that really hits the spots right and the vibrations, unlike many toys, really enhance the sensations on my g-spot.  They do half the work of stimulating it, meaning I don’t have to thrust as hard or intensely.

The Mona and Ina both have stronger, deeper, less buzzy vibrations than previous Lelo toys but are just as amazingly quiet, barely able to be heard under covers, definitely not thru a closed door.

Mona can certainly be used for clitoral stimulation, as well, but really shines when used as she was designed to be; as a g-spot tool.

Like all silicone toys, clean up is easy. Soap and water work well, just use care not to get the charging port or control buttons wet.  A toy spray or wipe works fantastically to, as does a mild bleach solution if you want to sanitize.  Stick to water based lubes unless you do a patch test, avoid anal use as there is no flared base and remember you can lock your Mona by pressing down the pus and minus buttons simultaneously for a few seconds, making her ideal for traveling.

Mona is 8 inches long but only 4 of those inches are insertable, something to be aware of if you have a very deep g-spot.  Her diameter is 1.5 inches, making her easily usable by most.  She is a bit larger than the Gigi and Liv, but smaller than the Elise and Iris and exactly the same size, minus the clitoral stimulator, as the Ina.
