Shunga “Soft Moves” Massage Cream
I have a weakness. Many of them, actually. Candles. Coffee. Mugs. Pens. And lotions and potions. Lubes, shower gels, massage oils, lotions, body sprays, bubble bath… They make my heart go pitty pat. I have a very special weakness for Shunga products. It’s a love, a lust, a compulsion. My expectations of anything Shunga are high. This lotion I’m reviewing for Vibrator.com? This raspberry, “soft moves” massage cream? It meets every one.
It comes in the standard Shunga packaging; Japanese inspired art on a lovely cardboard outer box as well as the tub itself. A generous amount; 7 oz of creamy goodness. A rich, pleasant but not overwhelming scent. A sweet but not obnoxious taste. Long lasting. Low stickiness factor.
Shunga products out perform any other brand I’ve tried and this massage cream is no exception.
It’s a bit difficult to get out of the tub as it’s medium thick; not a thick cream but not a runny lotion. Scooping a dollop out requires a bit of care so you don’t spill any. The tub itself is black plastic with a screw on lid. The lid closes securely so, once it’s closed, the chances of making a mess are slim. Don’t leave it laying on the bed open, though, cuz any bouncing around will cause it to dump over and spill. The good news is it doesn’t stain.
It performs just like any lotion when it comes to amount; a quarter sized dollop is good for feet, arms, smaller body parts, a bit more needs to be used for large ones like belly and breasts or back. It smoothes on wonderfully, giving you reduced friction for rubbing, caressing and massaging and soaks in nicely. It feels a wee bit sticky as it starts to dry but dries completely with no real lingering stickiness.
The best part about it, though, is the scent and taste. I got the raspberry and, while it doesn’t taste or smell like real raspberries, it does smell a bit like raspberry preserves. (Real, fresh raspberries smell slightly green, slightly viney. Preserves, on the other hand, are fruity and sweet) It’s a very feminine sort of smell, not something Taylor really likes to have used on him — but that’s okay, as it means more for me! The scent is apparent as soon as you open the jar, surrounding you with a light, happy sweetness. It lingers on the skin for about an hour but is never overwhelming, either in use or after. The taste is barely sweet; not a gaggingly sugary taste but just a hint of sweetness with no weird aftertaste or lotiony ickiness on the tongue. Sweet massages that encourage sweet kisses is a good thing, right?
