I am tired of narrow-minded people.
Tired of people who can’t see past their own small opinion to the possible validity of the thoughts and opinions of others.
Tired of those who are quick to pass judgment upon me and mine but never seem to see their own faults.
Have you noticed how very often the closed-minded claim to be bleeding hearts and oh so tolerant and supportive of every cause, minority and victim group out there? And at the same time they actually have zero understanding of the causes, minorities and victims they claim to support?
An example;
It’s pretty easy to see a t.v. special on the conditions of nursing homes and suddenly be appalled and willing to spout your “educated” opinion.
It’s a lot more difficult to actually work in those nursing homes and be able to see the many sides to the story and converse about it from a realistic standpoint.
There simply isn’t one right way and everything else is wrong. Life doesn’t work that way.
In a nursing home there are the elderly residents, the nursing staff, the patient care staff, the activity staff, the laundry and kitchen and janitorial staff, the resident’s families, the state board and the miscellaneous doctors that are in and out at random. You have the state laws, resident’s rights, profit margins, staffing shortages, staff to resident ratios issues.
Those who are not in the know about all of these components that make up nursing home life are simply not qualified to make the same argument as those who have experienced it all.
And yet you have the closed minded idiot who will form an opinion based upon a one hour television special and fucking refuse to hear any other side of the issue. They are right, this that and the other thing are wrong and you might well learn to fly before you can get them to understand more than their simple little minds have already taken in.
“Oh my god, that’s just HORRIBLE”, they say.
And you know what? It is horrible. But there are often many, many reasons behind the horror and instead of passing judgment, isn’t it better to UNDERSTAND? Truly and completely understand instead of shutting your mind and making stupid, rash judgment calls?
And these same people are the ones who cannot tolerate being judged themselves.
They’ll lie, steal, cheat and hurt people but, by gods, they always have an excuse. There’s always a reason that makes it okay in their own foolish little heads.
Because, again, they are so fucking narrow-minded they can’t even see that they’ve done something wrong. Their closed little minds see only what they want to see and everyone around them suffers for it.
Grrr.
I’ve had it with this kind of behavior.
My resolution for this year? To stop putting up with narrow, petty, small-minded fools.

***A side note. The nursing home example was not intended to portray a real argument or beef I’ve had with anyone. It’s just something I have experience in and could use as a good model for my rant.
