The We-vibe II – otherwise known as the We-disappointment

April 20, 2010 By In Reviews 3 Comments

I’m not even sure where to start with the We-vibe II.  I just…  it…  I…

*sigh*

I’m disappointed.  I’ve had it on my wishlist for what seems like an eternity, since way before it was the We-vibe II and was just the We-vibe.  I was unbelievably excited when I placed my order for it.  Finally.  I was going to have one.

And then it got here and I used it and…

Meh.  I spent a lot on something that’s not so great for me.  The unfortunate thing is that I can’t really figure out why.

The We-vibe, for those who may not know, is a u-shaped dual ended vibrator meant to be used during penetrative vaginal sex.  It has lovely but subtle ridging on the interior of each side; the smaller of which is meant to be inserted and stimulate the g-spot, the larger of which is supposed to cradle and stimulate the labia and clitoris.  Both sides vibrate.  It’s tiny, easily fitting in the palm of my hand.  It’s 3 inches long – so 3 inches of insertable shaft, then it u-turns and another 3 inches lays over the vulva and clitoris.  Which means, if you could stretch it out, which you don’t want to do for fear of breaking something inside, it would measure around 7 inches.  It has a slim 1″ diameter or 3″ circumference.

The We-vibe is amazingly comfortable during sex.  It does, indeed, shine in that regard.  I was afraid it would be easily pulled out of my vagina once it and Taylor’s dick were inserted and we started with our…  exuberant…  sort of thrusting but it did not.  It stayed in place very, very well and was quite comfy to both of us.  In fact, beyond a slight vibration, he really couldn’t feel it overly much.

The silicone skin is glossy and smooth, with the texture on the interior of each side being just enough to make it sort of grip to the skin but not so much that you feel it as actual texture.  the internal side has raised ridges, the external indented ridges.   It’s flexible thru the center of the u, firmer on each end where the motors are housed.  It has a low steady vibration and a high steady vibration as well as seven patterns of various escalations and pulses.  Vibrations transmit really well thru the silicone and feel moderate when I hold it in my hand.  I have a fairly sensitive clit and a very sensitive g-spot so it doesn’t take extreme vibrations to get me off.  The We-vibe should definitely have been enough.  Definitely.

And yet…

It’s not.  And I am so, so, SO frustrated by this fact.

No matter how I’ve tried to use it, no matter what position we’ve tried, it just doesn’t quite do it.  I’ve even tried it with a dildo instead of an actual penis and no dice there, either.  I cannot pinpoint why it doesn’t work.  It’s like once it’s inserted the vibrations are more muffled, just not quite strong enough and I’m not getting enough pressure and movement out of it, even when I manipulate it with my fingers. And yet, when I hold it in my hand, it buzzes away merrily, convincing me to try it again because, surely, this time it will be enough.

Damn it.

Perhaps it’s my anatomy, perhaps it’s my thick skin, perhaps it’s in my head.  I don’t know.  But it just doesn’t work for me.

I truly wish it did.

The We-vibe is, as mentioned, silicone.  It can be easily washed with soap and water or sanitized with a mild bleach solution.  It can be used with water or oil based lubes, but not with silicone based.  It’s rechargeable, so no batteries to buy ever.  It comes with a charging cord that plugs into the wall, then into the We-vibe itself.  The port where it plugs in is initially covered with the silicone skin that covers the entire toy and you have to puncture that skin with the charger plug.  When you unplug, it sort of seals back up, the silicone skin drawing back closed with only the barest hint of a hole visible.  Excellent for water resistance!  You initially plug it in and let it charge for 24 full hours , making sure to recharge before the motors begin to noticeably slow.

There are no lights or anything on the We-vibe to let you know it’s on or charging or any of that nonsense; just charge it for the full 24 hours and charge it every few times you use it and you should be fine.

The We-vibe turns on via a small button on the same side of the shaft as the charging port – the clitoral side.  Just above the embossed We-vibe II text and swirl on the outside of the vibe is a tiny raised button.  A single, firm press turns it on, subsequent presses scroll thru the speeds and patterns and eventually turn it off.  You can turn it off at any point by pressing and holding the button for a few seconds.  The button is a bit hard to press and I had difficulty doing so while it was inserted, especially as it got more wet and slippery with lube and arousal.  However, I’d rather have a hard time changing the speeds than have them change too easily or be pressed by the pressure of our bodies when it’s in use.  I’d much, much rather struggle a little to change the speed than have it change on me at the wrong moment.

Unlike the original We-vibe, the II does not come with a case; rather, it comes with a small lavender drawstring pouch that fits the toy itself and its cord.

Have I missed anything?  I’ve really struggled with getting this review written because, honestly, the We-vibe is an excellent product.  If it works for you, you’re going to love it.  Love. It.  But if it doesn’t, like me,  you’re going to be exceptionally frustrated, wanting it to work and just…  IRKED…  that it doesn’t.

I got this one at Eden Fantasys and it was not free, so the FCC can bite me.

  1. Wow. The We Vibe is my MOST favorite toy. I can only imagine how frustrating it was to try it and it did nadda. I’m also super sensitive and multi orgasmic – every single time we’ve used this I’ve had to remove it because the orgasms are just too strong and too long.

Sorry it didn’t work for you. =(

  2. Sorry to hear that your experience was disappointing CarrieAnn. Presumably you have seen, as the previous commenter stated, that the vast majority of women love the We-Vibe and have overwhelmingly positive experiences with the product. However, because of the range of body types and levels of sensitivity – we don’t all wear the same shoes size :) – a small minority of women find the product does not live up to their particular expectations.

We are addressing this through feedback and R&D and expect to have something to satisfy your needs down the line.
