Totally Vanilla Love and Stuffs

shed-002-copySo last year (there I go, doing it again.  I start so many blog posts with “so…”. It’s like I was in the middle of a conversation with y’all, got distracted and came right back to it like I never stopped. Heh)

Anyhow.  Last year, Taylor saw some guy giving away a shed on Craigslist or something.  It was an old dude, with an old shed that needed to come down, was still fairly usable, but the dude was too old to take it down himself.  So he got in the truck and went and took it down for dude and carted it home.

It ended up being a three day project and then the wood sat in our yard for a month or two before he even attempted to erect the shed in our yard.

Now this shed is seventy some years old.  It’s a little lopsided and wore out and the paint is peeling and Taylor got frazzled with it and never finished it last summer.  It leaned and sagged and threatened to fall over in our yard all winter.

So.

Yesterday he went outside and fixed it.

He put a fuck ton of screws in it and made it stand up mostly straight.  He got the roof on right and tar papered it. (Still needs shingles but that’ll come soon)  He built shelves inside and got the Teen to make me a wooden “bin” with the scrap wood at the same time.  Then they carted all my gardening stuff in there and called me out and presented me with my very own gardening shed.

It still needs doors but Taylor is going to build me one of those split door things.  A solid bottom half with a split upper half that swings open even when the bottom is closed.  He’s even going to hook up power in there since it’s got everything he needs to do it, even a lighbulb socket in the ceiling.

Is that the nicest, coolest, sweetest thing EVER or what?

I have my own potting shed and it’s seventy some years old.  I feel like the greenest of the green today. :)

Now I need to go buy some soil and mulch and seed and get planting!

Taylor and my kid rock.  They’re the awesomesauce on top of the awesomesauce.

Everyone thinks Taylor is this big, growly, nastymeanfucker.  He is THE sweetest man and he loves me.

*dreamy sigh*

Ignore all my old, chipped up pots and tools.  I have this thing for old garden stuff and for buying up people’s junk when they buy a shiny new bunch of junk.  The old junk works just fine, yanno, and it looks pretty neat, too.

The only bad thing is most of my pots cracked over winter cuz we were dumb and didn’t put them away.  Meh.  Oh well.   Maybe I’ll make a mosaic or summin. :)
