So, if you follow kaya around on Fetlife you’re bound to come across some of the funniest and snarkiest and gobsmacking-ist topics. Which, of course, make the best blog fodder.
Today I came across one dealing with rules; Masters rules vs community/group rules and which rules take precedence.
And I’m all…
Duh.
Why the fuck would I be involved with a group that went against Taylor’s rules in the first place?
Another useless topic because those with any sense would simply leave the group if it was so against the rules they live by/expect their property to live by.
If I’m looking into a munch and their rules say I can’t wear a collar chances are we won’t be going. If I’m attending an event full of strangers where it’s required that I call all tops “Sir Master Lord and God”… we’re not going.
It’s really just not that fucking difficult.
Which ties in with another conversation where someone is bemoaning the fact that some groups are not open to everyone.
Cuz, yanno, it just doesn’t make sense that a group called “slaves only” would have… just slaves in it. Or that the group “gorean people” would be a place for… gorean people. Or that “femme dommes R us” would cater to… female dominants.
The nerve of these folks, wanting a place they can be amongst those with a similar outlook and not want to have to argue basic theory or semantics wtth non slaves, non goreans or non female dominants, etc etc etc.
Another question/topic that seems so self explanatory to me.
There are big, all inclusive groups and there are smaller, more specific area of interest groups.
I’d rather the scat lovers keep their discussions on a scat specific group, wouldn’t you? I mean, your kink isn’t my kink and all that crap (hehe) and I’m not judging… I just don’t want to have to read about it when I’m wading thru posts about stuff I do want to read. Or, taking it offline, I don’t want to have to watch someone play with poo when I went to an event to enjoy a little OTK.
I LIKE the idea of things being kept separate. Sure, joining together and singing kumbaya is nice on occasion. But, really, man… for the most part? Don’t you choose the folks you hand around with cuz they’re somewhat LIKE you rather than UNLIKE you? Same diff when it comes to groups and whanot.
Common sense.
The lack of which is a fucking epidemic on FetLife. (No offense. I love FetLife)

I drink a lot of coffee, ride a motorcycle, have an 18 year old son and a decade long relationship that began in a chat room.

What is this common sense that you speak of? It is a rare beast, no?
Eliot’s last blog post..Video Q&A #2
I read that thread! Then I asked for the time I lost while reading it to be returned and they said no.
I’m with you in that any group with rules contradictory our rules or philosophy, I can skip joining.
Seems like anyone who would be conflicted about knowing which rules are more important really has an issue with the top in their life and can’t flat out acknowledge it. Like, if it’s not clear to you that his rules are the rules, then you have some thinking to do.
And the groups on Fetlife? I’ve seen at least one (and I am sure there are many) top who was just so full of outrage for being removed from slaves only or a similar group. I can just imagine the thoughts going through this guy’s head when he joins the slaves only group: “A slave group must have a master to run it. They are slaves, they can’t run it themselves, after all. I will guide them, I, Master of All Masters, with 2000 years of experience and who invented the Old Guard and founded the secret houses of Europe, will mold them and train them to be the slaviest slaves ever!
